Μην ήταν πια η αυγή απατηλή;

The kiss (Maroula Komninou of Lemnos island)

The kiss
(Maroula Komninou of Lemnos island)

She felt the winging of the crows with the decline of light,
the dithering of leaves that sensed the overrunning horde
as foreign soldiers torched homes, afore the dark of night,
uncouth and uninvited troops that peace and laws abhorred.

Barbarians invade the land, their darkened deeds unjust
and slaughter the civilians that power do not wield
therefore the maid of Komninoi, her father's weapons thrusts,
cause it is better, oft ,with pride, for freedom to be killed.

The daughter of the Byzantines, on the embrasure stands;
for paragons should mortals live, for dignity must fight;
alike a hawk that soars to skies, her soulfulness expands,
imparting to the Gods above, her kiss of vestal light.

So, standing fights upon the nooks, the demons she beheads,
from dawn to dusk the crimson runs upon her armor steels
while little dribs of her own blood, communion she sheds,
partaking in the mizzle drops and substance of the kills.

" I leave my kiss upon the blade, and on the armor wrought,
companions and amulets shall take my soul to fields
where Death awaits, the knightly groom of whom the love I sought,
adjacent to the clanging sound of swords upon the shields. "

Down by the river's banks

Down by the river's banks

The foliage dithers by the side
of Acheronian river,
as Roxanne journeys in her sleep,
along the lithesome streamers
with ruptured flags to wave above
the shakiness of blossoms
and down its coursing path with souls
of lovers gone and dreamers.

Symbolic is the Eagle's flight
above the battle winners
of Alexander's phalanxes,
most glorious 'mid mortals
and it becomes the flaming pyre
that purifies on altars
the braves who passed across the Styx,
the Hades' iron portals.

"Protect him deities of night,
Morpheus send my message,
cause he should not stare at the sun
on Babylon's west entrance
I hark to wind, that passes mid
the ferryman's black cordage
and marries those who search across
their everlasting romance."

The maiden's song had tranced him by
the silver stream's embankment
and to the skylines followed him,
along the nightly orchard
that spreads beyond the stills of time
the night's ebonic garment
and with her lonesomeness amass,
secluded tho' engaged.

Intangible, she lifted high,
above the efflorescence,
therefore she wore, beyond her life,
betrothal ringing golden;
with him she slept in cotton mists,
aboard the ship of voidance
monotonous her windy songs,
their trip of e'er to broaden.

Notre Dame Marion

Notre Dame Marion

She thought of all details the Mistral sweeps
the tears she shed that night atop the deck;
how beautiful it was to bear her dreams
but why the heavens have induced the wreck?

For ten odd months the messages received,
the scent of ports brought in, so to inform
but near Alaska, Bering Strait, bereaved
the ship had spent her masts, in waves and storm.

The Mistral spoke that night, 'the ship was split',
and then he was with her, in waxen light;
he smiled - she guessed he knew naught of it;
how was his smile angelical and bright!

He kiss'd her face (or so she thought), and hair
and then he sail'd away, in her belief,
atop the tides on his departing fare,
on moors she laughed to conjure the grief.

On Aleutians snows today and slow,
'Notre Dame Marion' advances on the tide;
atop the deck are standing in faint glow,
two ghosts that conn the ship on ether's glide.

των Εσπερίδων κάλεσμα ή τάχα του θανάτου;

Blue fenêtre

Blue fenêtre

Τhe night encompassed his face and voice,
outside the blue fenêtre alone he stood,
his thought succumbed to a doubtful choice
unfinished structure made from balsa wood.

Τhe flying daughters of the night, wind-wrought,
escorted shades of blue and raindrops shed,
she fled, a monochrome contrast he sought;
in air her photograph averts, misled.

The nighttime beckoned on its steady mold;
in that same sight he touched her face and braved,
the longitudes besought, belied and called,
contrasting him outside his dream and grave.

In air suspended a newspaper folds
dispatched, waving renders his advance
its insignificance his spirit holds,
before the sill she mends his nightly dance.

Six empty shells

Six empty shells

The sun was blinding as she stared aside,
he walked the distance to adjoin his fate,
a swirling, laughing wind began to slide
and jokingly their lives to desecrate.

Despite the heat, he wore the tailored suit
of color black; beneath the Stetson's shade
his stare was sweeping the contacting butte,
with dusty ghosts to mime an odd charade.

Replacing the six empty shells he turned
to see her worried glance beyond the blooms,
that innocent, embellished unconcerned
the recklessness of braves aside their tombs.

The Smith and Wesson forty-fours, then, bucked,
she knew the blooming noon was ending fast
and nothingness neglected to obstruct
what fates adjudicated to recast.

She saw the copper shells to fall in dust;
monochromatic synthesis and hues
of sunset were blurring in the gust
that whirling sang their lonesomeness and blues.

Beyond the turnpike, where the roads converge
a flock of crows was messaging the tale,
the spinning wind was bringing up their dirge,
on the deserted Arizona trail.

Her Soul, the Sea (The Ship)

Her Soul, the Sea (The Ship)

The shadows deigned in precise sequence
where skylines have conducted fore the ship,
its blackened sight to boss the thought and sense
of sailors that imagined its long trip.

The Northern wind was cutting like a knife,
injurious, its messages behowled,
equilibrating on the brink of life
of the foregone to seas, the thinking prowled.

The ship's black smoke ascended to the skies
from supercilious tall funnels, smog,
bestowing sacrificial offing size
to sovereign Gods that lived inside the fog.

The tidal and enshrouding foaming spills,-
advanced the dusk, advanced the bawling horn's
unearthly sounding out; the flowing rills
retracted in the sea its crying mourns.

In front of us, the ship's displacement thrilled
approaching, so, magnificent the moors;
Her Soul, the Sea, her eulogy instilled
inside our minds and souls, where faith adjures.

Pristine the sea, baptized the scene in depths
where psyches stay in canted-over keels,
deceptive were the reasoned-out percepts,
infused where catastrophe conceals.

The night descended when the ship's steel gaze
examined curious and measured me,
proposing wedlock and a fate of blaze,
my competence, demanding, in the sea.

Across the Straits, young lady Sadness kissed
with ripping cold my twenty years and eyes,
resembling Her Soul, the Sea, amidst
the Northern winds that howled and my demise.
